GlenRo Spirit Shoppe (203)261-6166
Driving north on Route 111 just across from the new Stop and Shop one will notice Comaro Shopping Center. If you look closely you will see Glen-Ro Spirit Shoppe and Brewers; both owed by Larry Cass. Larry is the third owner of Glen-Ro he......
The second owner, Roy(still working there and having fun!!) had his first work experience in the retail liquor business in 1984 actually working for the original owner of Glen-Ro Robert Huggler. “I always liked wine and it was a fun job,” remarked Roy of his part-time position. Roy had been pursuing a career in Industrial Engineering and spent time as an assistant plant manager in Norwalk while still working part-time at Glen-Ro. However, being born as both an American and French citizen he visited France quite often. That French influence seemed to prevail and, in a sense spilled over and guided his career. In 1992 Roy purchased Glen-Ro Spirit Shoppe and by that time Roy had turned Glen-Ro into one of the largest wine shops in the state. Roy consults and travels to other countries and visits many wineries to find those best wines for the best price.
Today Glen-Ro cares over 3500 wines from all over the world. Caring top name hard to find wines to award winning values and soon to be highly acclaimed wines. Glen-Ro is one of the top 40 wine shops in the state and Larry and Roy knows every wine in the store as well as everything about the 1000or so beers the store cares. His staff has tremendous fun working and learning about all the different wines and beers and are always eager to help.
Glen-ro's moto is: “People need to realize that you do not have to spend a lot to find a good wine. Once they find this out they have more fun trying different wines. Yes some you like better than others, but its like food, you have to try new recipes. Life should never be chicken everyday.”
